How to Clean Dildos- Material-Specific Cleaning Guide

Correct cleaning methods vary by material. Mastering cleaning techniques for different materials ensures product hygiene and extends lifespan.

Silicone Dildo Cleaning

Silicone is the easiest material to clean. Daily cleaning: Wash with warm water and mild soap, then dry. Deep disinfection: Boil for 3-5 minutes or soak in 10% bleach solution for 10 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.

Silicone is non-porous and doesn’t harbor bacteria, but still requires thorough cleaning. Can be placed in dishwasher (top rack) for cleaning, but avoid using with dishes.

PVC Dildo Cleaning

PVC is a porous material requiring more careful cleaning. Wash with warm water and mild soap, paying special attention to textured areas. Cannot be boiled or bleached as high temperatures and strong chemicals damage the material.

Recommend using condoms with PVC products, especially for anal use or sharing. Replace regularly (6-12 months) as porous materials accumulate bacteria over time.

TPE Dildo Cleaning

TPE is also a porous material with cleaning methods similar to PVC. Wash with warm water and mild soap, gently rubbing the surface. Cannot use high-temperature disinfection or strong chemical cleaners.

TPE easily absorbs odors; can be cleaned with specialized toy cleaner. Must be thoroughly dried after cleaning to prevent bacterial growth. Recommend more frequent replacement (3-6 months).

Glass and Metal Dildo Cleaning

These non-porous materials can use all cleaning methods. Daily cleaning with soap and water is sufficient. Can be boiled, bleached, or placed in dishwasher.

Glass products require careful inspection for cracks or chips before and after cleaning. Metal products should be checked for rust or corrosion. Both materials should be handled gently to prevent damage.

Drying and Storage

All materials should be thoroughly dried after cleaning. Air dry or pat dry with a clean towel. Store only after completely dry. Silicone products should be stored separately to prevent chemical reactions between silicone items.

Correct cleaning not only ensures hygiene but also extends product lifespan.
